CARE

Policies

Behaviour and Discipline policy
It is the responsibility of all staff to ensure consistency, gentleness and understanding in their attitude. In this way, we endeavour to influence a child's future conduct, rather than emphasising negative points in past behaviour.

In the event of a child's behaviour being damaging to themselves or others, a member of staff will chat with the child to explain what he / she has done wrong and then the child will be encouraged to modify their behaviour in order to resume the activity.

Parents will always be informed if a child has had to be removed from a serious area of conflict. If a child's behaviour is such that all efforts to remedy their behaviour fails, a senior member of staff will discuss the situation with the child's parents to decide on future action.

All children are educated to show care and consideration for others.

Parental Involvement
KinderWorld nursery staff will always welcome parents who wish to visit their child during the day. Similarly, parents may telephone at any time during nursery opening hours and speak with the member of staff they require. Parents are assured that any information exchanged with the staff is treated confidentially, within legal constraints.

Staff will follow the parents’ wishes wherever possible and take into consideration the parents’ assessment of their child. Parents' evenings are provided to enable discussions relating to past and future aspects of the curriculum and to assist their child's achievements and development. This provides the platform to bring together parents, staff and management to explore topics and ideas to improve and expand the quality and range of services KinderWorld provides.

At Kinderworld we are using the ClassDojo app!  This helps us to communicate with each other and share any learning, photographs and events! It is simple and secure and gives you a window into your child’s day at nursery. It is simple, free and can be used on IOS, Android and can be accessed from your computer too.

Equal Opportunities Policy
KinderWorld supports the policy of treating all children equally regardless of race, gender, religion, disability.

KinderWorld’s ethos is to ensure:-
• The promotion of anti-racism by encouraging children to respect traditional values other the child’s own.
• Staff do not distinguish between activities, giving equal opportunity to join in the activity of their choice.
• That every effort will be made to enable children to cope with any disabilities and join in Nursery activities.
• That special dietary needs are catered for.
• That all children receive equal concern from the staff.

We are passionate at Kinderworld about working together to help your child to Be Kind, Be Independent, and Be Resilient.
We want our nursery children to be themselves.

Meals and Snacks

We work closely with the Food Standards Agency and regularly review our menus.
Please visit the Menus section of the KinderWorld website

Allergies
Parents are required to inform the Room leader/Keyworker and any members of the staff of allergies or dietary requirements their child may have.

Nappies
Parents must provide their own nappies and wipes for their child. This helps prevent possible reactions or allergies.

Collection
Parents / Carers are requested not to take their child without the knowledge of a member of staff. If for any reason the known parent / carer cannot collect their child the Nursery staff must be informed as soon as possible. Prior to collection the name and relevant details of the person collecting the child must be made known to the nursery staff.

Hygiene
A high level of hygiene is of the upmost importance to prevent cross infection and we ensure we teach children the importance of developing good hygiene practices. Disposable paper towels are provided to prevent cross infection, and every effort is made to assist children developing good hygiene practice.

During COVID-19 we have ensured all government and NHS guidance is followed as the health and wellbeing of our staff, children, parents and the wider community are paramount.

Change of Clothes
Each child should be provided with a change of clothes and shoe bag. Each item should be clearly marked with your child's name.

Illness
At KinderWorld we promote good health of those attending. To help keep children healthy and minimise infections, we do not expect children to attend nursery if they are unwell. If a child is unwell it is in their best interest to be in a home environment with adults they know well rather than a nursery with their peers.

If your child becomes ill whilst at nursery you will be contacted to collect them and seek any medical advice if required.

If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19, they must not come to nursery and should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared. Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and this can be arranged
via https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.

All other household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 10 days. This includes anyone in your ‘Support Bubble’.
Further information is available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection

The 10-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill / starting showing symptoms.
